How to get the most from your bike over the Autumn & Winter months

All of the following items are considered essential to make your cycling experience enjoyable, comfortable & safe throughout the autumn & winter months no matter who you are.

Maintain your cycle fitness and enjoyment over the Autumn and Winter months and feel chuffed with the accomplishment of another ride completed.

In-Ride Hydration

It may be cold out there but it’s still very important for your health to keep yourself hydrated. Having bottle cages and drink bottles on your bike means no matter where you are you can quench your thirst during your ride.

Puncture Repair

Nothing ruins a ride more than a puncture. So, rather than telephone a family member or friend to come and collect you, which can make you rather unpopular, you can be self sustainable instead. A pack fitted to your bike with a spare inner tube, pump and repair patches can save the day your sanity & your ride.

Be Seen, Be Safe

Light your way with rechargeable lights that save you a bundle in batteries. A wide range to suit your needs whether it's commuting, road riding or off-road. See, be seen and be secure... day or night.

Base Layers

Keeping comfortable during the early chill of Autumn and the cold of Winter begins with a well fitted good quality base layer. These are worn next to the skin under a long sleeve cycle jersey.

We keep stock of sleeveless, short sleeve and long sleeve base layers. They can come in different grades of material like Synthetic, blend or Merino wool for different temperature conditions.

Worn over the base layer would be a long sleeve cycle jersey with Roubaix thermal lining. Some Jerseys will also have a windproof panel to keep the wind-chill off the chest and stomach region. All our long sleeve jerseys will have 3 pockets in the back, so you can carry a fold-away gilet or rain jacket. So if the wind-chill factor picks up or the rain starts, you are prepared with an additional protective layer.

It's important to keep your knee joints protected when the temperatures drop.

We have a choice of men's and women's 3/4 length tights and full length leg tights.

Many of these will have a light Roubaix lining and some even have windproof panels too. All the tights will have a quality padded section to keep you comfortable in the saddle.

Head, Hands & Feet

When your head, hands and feet are warm and dry it has an amazing positive effect on the rest of your body.

Head & ears: Stop the 'brain freeze' and maintain your concentration with a Roubaix lined skull cap that can be worn beneath your cycle helmet.

Hands: We all differ, as some suffer more than others with their hands/fingers. So we have a huge range of gloves with varying thickness levels and windproof, thermal and waterproof options to suit your needs and preferences.

Feet: Same goes for the toes, numb feet make pedalling uncomfortable. we have varying lengths of thermal socks as well as  water proof versions too. Yes, water proof socks! You can boost feet comfort and shoe protection with thermal and water proof over shoes that will also keep your footwear clean.
