London – The Big Half  Sunday 4th March 2018

Well today we spent our day in London running The Big Half. Great event worth signing up for next year. The weather couldn’t make up its mind and was warmer than we had dressed for. Brilliant running Michelle for someone who’s longest run this year was 7 Miles, now onto the great north run.

Well done to the seven lovely ladies who completed the ‘Love Welwyn 10k’, Sunday 11th February 2018.

Great results for you all. You have done Trisports Run Group proud.

Well done to Lisa and Sam on their first 10k,  Gita, Lynda, Karen and Carly for PB’s.  Carolyn was yours a PB?

Carolyn and Karen 54:59 PB’s
Gita 1:01:31 PB
Sam 1:04:17 First 10k
Carly 1:11:21 PB by nearly 4 minutes
Lisa 1:11:57 First 10k
Lynda 1:12:14 – PB by 8 minutes!!!

Welwyn 10k

Well done everyone, all your hard work paid off.

Standalone 10k

Well done to each and everyone one of Trisports Run Group at Standalone 10k. It really was a proud moment to see so many green Trisports shirts on the start line. Hopefully you all ‘enjoyed’ the race, especially those whose first 10k it was.

You should all be very proud!

5th February  2017

London Cancer Research Winter Run 10k –  Nicky Tyler has summed it up pretty well – a fun event with polar bears, huskies, penguins & lots of music as we ran round the sights of the City, and all for the benefit of Cancer Research, a cause close to many of our hearts I’m sure.

After finishing, I had to walk another 5k or so to meet up with Chip & our friends, which wasn’t so good!

Official time….55:23 – pleased with that! Even more pleased with the lovely hot bath when I got home.

PS – it doesn’t look like it but I was running in the photo, about 5k in, having thrown my hat at my groupies.

London Cancer Research Winter Run 10k – great event, well organised, fun and a worthy cause. Official time 57:57 – really thrilled! Thanks Alison, all those hills and intervals really do pay dividends! Well done to all who have done events and training this weekend. Especially Elspeth as you’ll see when she posts her time! x

Duck N Dash

Elspeth collects her 1st in age category for the swim / run event.

Woburn Triforlife Sprint

800m Swim 17:39
T1 6:41 (Think I need to work on this)
20km Bike Ride 44:14
T2 1:31
5km Run 23:26

Time 1:33:33

The swim at Woburn is not the most pleasant of swims with visibility of about nothing and swimming through the reeds which is why everyone ends up with a nice black beard even the ladies.

The ride is undulated with about 150m of climb over the 2 laps, the new bike performed perfectly on uneven surfaces and cattle grids.

We then finishing with a 2 lap run on the estate. Slightly downhill on the way out and slightly uphill on the way back.

The good thing was I beat all of my times from last year so happy with progress.

Sunday 7th August 2016

Two of Trisports Running Group were amongst 1000’s of other triathletes, over the weekend, taking part in the London Triathlon. Both took part in the Sprint which consisted of 750m swim, 20Km bike and 5 km run.

Phil Oram completed the course in 1:34:32, on a very windy, choppy and hot day.

Elspeth Gutteridge was outstanding – taking 2nd in her age group in 1:41:31.

Our triathletes are one of the swimmers wearing a green hat!!!

Sunday 31st July 2016

Abigail completed the Prudential 47 mile ride on Sunday taking 2 hr 50 minutes to complete the ride. Abigail  really enjoyed the event – one of the best she has experienced especially riding in London with no cars!

Larry, and  Julian, took on the 51 mile Sportive ‘The Only Way is Essex’  The ride was all in Essex, rather than any relationship to a certain TV series. The route was very hilly and incredibly picturesque.  The event was well organised and after three and half hour they both collected their finishers medal, T shirt and other goodies. They rewarded themselves with a celebratory BBQ and small glass of larger!!

Sunday 24th July 2016

Michelle and Phil Oram took part in Ride Norfolk, a 65 mile sportive,  at the weekend.

M P Ride

What was amazing about this is that Michelle has only just started riding in the last 6 weeks. Michelle  had only done a few rides on her  new Trek Silque before undertaking the 65 mile challenge with her husband Phil and two friends.

Whilst Michelle found the ride tough she was still smiling at the end. Trisports are very proud of Michelle’s achievement. Well done to both Phil and Michelle.

Castle Howard Triathlon 23rd/24th July 2016

Three members of Trisports Running Group competed with 67 other triathletes in the Starter Sprint Triathlon at Castle Howard, Yorkshire.

Hever castle group

This consisted of a 200m swim, 13k bike and 2k run. Jason completed the event in 01:04:18, Victoria in 01:04:57, earning herself 2nd in age category, and Abigail in 01:09:09.

The group said that the course was extremely hilly and weather very hot. WELL DONE all three triathletes!

Abigail and Victoria 1

Sunday 17th July 2016

Abigail and Victoria complete the Cambridge Race for Life 10k  in  1hr 11 mins and 1h 19 mins respectively.

However the course measured longer (6.53 miles) on Abigail’s phone.

Nicky Tyler

On the same day, Nicky Tyler, completed her first 10km.

She has been running with the group for less than a year, taking part in the run/walk program last September. Congratulations Nicky.

“On Sunday I ran in the Great Newham London Run which is 10K around the Olympic park finishing in the Stadium – great experience. I ran with my mate Alison.
My time was 01:12:29 which I was really pleased with given it was my first ever 10K and it was blooming hot!!”

Another fab effort by the Trisports run group.

Members of Trisports Running Group helped North Herts Road Runners celebrate 5 years of ‘First Saturday of the month 5km’ on 7th May.

Three members ran this race for the first time – Chris, Michelle D and Nicky. Others came away with PB’s on a very hot Saturday morning.  Most enjoyed trying out Compressport calf guards during the race and eating birthday cake at the end.

A great effort by all.

All three were raising funds for charities. Ashley was raised funds for The Cure Parkinson Trust, in memory of his Uncle. Whilst Michelle and Phil run on behalf of the YMCA.

February has been a busy month for Trisports Running Group.

Many took part in the First of the month 5k at Norton Common on 6th February. Whilst this was a muddy run there were many PB set on the day. Well done to Lucy Hurley, Lynsey Kiron, Elspeth Gutteridge, Karen Pettyfer, Michelle and Phil Oram.

Lucy also completed the Cambridge half marathon in a time of 1:54:57. Lucy was hoping to complete the event in 2 hours, so well and truly beat this predicted time.

Larry Barbato and Rollie Talbot travelled to Coventry to take part in the half marathon.  In his race report Larry stated it was a harder race than they thought.  Rollie managed a very creditable 2:03;00 after spending six weeks in Australia. Larry completed the race in 2:33:00, and was just  pipped by a bloke in a giant Mr Potatohead costume!!  Both said it was  great event, and received a  lovely medal and decent goody bag.
